CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid compound found in the hemp plant, it is legal and is a thing that the most healthy person you know is currently doing. And - it’s for good reason.
THC, is the other cannabinoid you might be most familiar with, mostly associated with getting high. Unlike THC, CBD is not intoxicating and instead offers many therapeutic benefits.
Without getting “too” technical, it’s important to understand the biochemistry behind it. The body already has it's own natural system of cannabinoid “receptors” in it. This system is called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS).
Think of it has a set of radars throughout your body and your brain, looking for cannabinoid-type substances.
“What we’ve learned is that a lot of really important processes in our biochemistry, like sleep, depression, appetite, and cardiovascular regulation, are at least partly controlled by the endocannabinoid system and the cannabinoid-type substances that we make naturally in our bodies.” Samantha Miller | Biochemist and founder of Pure Analytics Laboratory
When we consume cannabinoids they work in collaboration with our ECS to effectively regulate many of the body’s regular functions - which is why, CBD positively impacts your appetite, energy, mood, and muscle recovery. This is called Homeostasis.
